Below is a guideline of the amounts that could be awarded, please be aware that this is not an exhaustive list:

  Broken Nose £6,000 £13,500 For serious or multiple fractures requiring surgery and/or permanent damage and facial deformity.  
  Fractured Cheekbone £1,400 £1,700 For a simple fracture and full recovery.  
  Fractured Cheekbone   £9,000 For more serious/permanent injury.  
  Teeth £630 £1,000 Loss/damage to one back tooth.  
  Teeth £1,300 £2,300 Loss/damage to one front tooth.  
           
  Neck/Back Injury
 
  Whiplash £750 £4,500 Minor injury depending upon length of time to full recovery.  
  Back injury up to £7,000 For a minor back injury depending upon recovery.  
  Shoulder £3,000 £7,000 Fracture with complete recovery.  
    up to £2,500 Soft tissue injury for recovery in one year.  
    up to £4,500 Soft tissue injury for recovery in up to 2 years.  
           
  Arm Injury
 
  Broken Arm   £3,700 Uncomplicated fracture/complete, quick recovery.

  Broken Leg £5,000 £22,000 Depending upon nature of fracture, recovery etc and upwards from for serious injury.  
  Ankle   £3,300 Minor fracture and sprain for recovery in 12 months.  
    up to £8,000 For modest injury depending on level of recovery.

Passenger on Heathrow Plane Crash may Take Legal Action

A passenger that was on the British Airways flight that crashed in January 2008 ‘has been highly anxious and unable to sleep’ has said he will take legal action. It has been said that passengers that have been “traumatised” could claim up to “£85,000”.

Army Cadet Sues the MOD for Facial Injury

Ms Huntington was hit in a face by a falling rock during a climbing exercise which caused a large cut across her cheek requiring stitches. Ms Huntington claims that the Senior Officers in Charge had a “duty to see to it that cadets were not gathered at the foot of the rockface” and that it was reasonable “reasonably foreseeable that they would be at risk from falling rocks”.

Father of Deceased Awarded £6,800 Criminal Injuries Compensation

Mr Lubbock died at a party of the former home of Michael Barrymore. Although no-one was charged with causing or being involved in the death of Mr Lubbock his father was able to claim £6,800 from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. Mr Lubbock’s father says he will be using the money to “get justice for” his son.

Biker’s Family Awarded £110,000 after Fatal Accident

Mr Cooper died in an accident after riding though a fuel spillage on the road. There was no way of finding out who was responsible for the spillage therefore the Motor Insurance’ Bureau paid out the £110,000 compensation to Mr Cooper’s family. The Motor Insurers’ Bureau compensates victims of road traffic accidents (RTA) accidents where the responsible party cannot be traced or is uninsured.

Personal Injury Victim Awarded £5million after Fall

Mr Miah, a painter and decorator, was left with brain damage after a fall from scaffolding at work. Both his employer and the scaffolding company were found jointly liable. Mr Miah’s employer was ordered to pay 30% of the compensation for the accident and the Scaffolding firm was ordered to pay 70% of the compensation. Mr Miah was awarded £2.4 million lump sum and a payment of £105,000 per annum for the rest of his life. It is expected the damages may run into £5 million pounds.

Criminal Injury Compensation Awarded to Devon

Mr Davies spent 10 months in hospital, suffers from memory loss and was left in a wheel chair after a ‘head butt’ at a Cornish nightclub. A High Court Judge ruled that the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority should award Mr Davies compensation.
